It’s the last consecutive week of the Clear the Clutter Challenge before we slow things down to once a month! It’s been amazing getting some major areas of my home organized but it’ll be nice to slow the pace down as life picks up! Last week I shared our play area organization and this week I’m sharing our guest bedroom organization!
If you haven’t already be sure to check out my co-hosts’ spaces from last week!
Each week we’ll be choosing a space to feature from our link up!
This week’s feature is Debbie from Two + Me & You! We loved her playroom and she shared some great tips for playroom organization as well!
GUEST BEDROOM ORGANIZATION
This room probably has a multiple personality disorder with how much it’s changed in just 3.5 years! It started out as our office and got a small makeover. But when the then guestroom became the nursery the office turned into the new guestroom. It also happens to be a catch all room a lot of the time, unfortunately.
One day this room will either become CB’s big girl room or a nursery for baby number 2. But in the meantime I’d like to keep the clutter at a minimum for when we have guests stay. Which isn’t super often, my mom does stay with us on my husband’s drill weekend and when my MIL comes to town she sometimes stays with us.
But there was so much junk in there you couldn’t even walk in the closet!
Most of it is baby items CB is no longer using or home decor things that I no longer want or I want but I’m not entirely sure where I want them to go. A big part of my problem was just needing to combine some bins, so I had fewer of them. We bought a large tote to put baby items in and placed that in the attic. And what I no longer wanted I took to Goodwill.
It’s not the prettiest but it feels so good to have the guest bedroom decluttered! Now when someone stays over they actually have somewhere to place their things!
TIPS TO MAKING A COZY GUEST ROOM
- Have a basket of personal hygiene items in case your guest forgets theirs.
- Add extra pillows and a blanket to the bed so they can add or remove to their comfort.
- Have fresh towels somewhere easy for them to find.
- A bottle of water and a candle on the nightstand can help guests to feel extra welcomed!
- Have the wifi network name and password on the nightstand so they can easily connect their phone. I used this free printable and framed it.
